When cannabis is harvested, the flowers are sold we weed or bud. You likely know what cannabis looks like in its farmed and true form – like leafy green plants and then like dried nugs. It can also be called earwax, honeycomb, nectar, or amber. Wax, although its own concentrate product, is sometimes referred to as shatter. Unlike the brittle texture of shatter, wax has a softer consistency. Typically, wax can be distinguished by its honey colour. Sometimes called weed wax, this cannabis extract is made from a highly concentrated substance derived from cannabis plants. Wax is another cannabis concentrate that many consumers know and love. Though it has a brittle consistency that gives it its name – you may find that it looks and feels similar to broken glass. As a cannabis extract, shatter gives consumers a slightly heavier potency than smoking or consuming cannabis directly from the plant.ĭistinguished by its unique appearance, shatter is sold and purchased as a solid. It’s gained popularity thanks to its versatility and potency. Shatter is one of many popular cannabis concentrate products available via online dispensaries today. So, to help you make your choice between wax and shatter, let’s take a look at what differentiates these two popular cannabis concentrates. If you’re opting for concentrates, you’re already on the right path to quality, potency, and a great experience. Though they can appear similar to the untrained eye, there are actually many differences between wax and shatter. These structures cannot move and can only target specific enemy figures at a specific range. Each player starts the game with three defensive towers located on their side of the playing field. It automatically re-configures the BCD to add support for the WIM format. EasyBCD can boot into two different Windows PE systems:ĮasyBCD supports booting into WinPE 2.0+ WIM images stored on any local partition by providing the path to the WIM file. Windows PE 2.0 through 5.1 are supported under a separate module in EasyBCD. Instead, EasyBCD uses a boot-time helper developed by NeoSmart Technologies called EasyLDR, which replaces NTLDR and bypasses boot.ini entirely, directly loading the operating system in question without showing the user a second selection menu. Īs of version 2.0, EasyBCD uses a new method for booting into Windows NT/2000/XP that does not use NTLDR in order to avoid a two-level boot menu (the BCD boot menu followed by the NTLDR/BOOT.INI boot menu for cases where multiple legacy NT operating systems are installed). These include enabling support for unsigned drivers on 64-bit Windows installations, booting into the various flavors of safe mode, limiting Windows to a certain amount/number of memory or CPU cores, verbose boot logging, and enabling/disabling of both PAE and DEP/NoExecute. Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003ĭepending on the version of Windows being added in EasyBCD, certain other options may be available.Windows ĮasyBCD supports a number of different Windows entries, and can be used to install and configure the following: ĮasyBCD also supports changing the boot partition/drive that PC boots from, changing the default boot entry, re-ordering menu entries, and modifying the timeout behavior of the boot menu. Newer versions of EasyBCD also support creating bootable USB disks, by deploying BOOTMGR and the BCD onto a removable disk and performing the necessary actions to make the drive bootable, after which it can be loaded into EasyBCD to add and remove the various supported entry types in order to create bootable repair USB sticks. ĮasyBCD can be used to change the boot drive, rename or change the order of any entries in the bootloader, and modify existing entries to point to a different drive. This latter feature can be taken advantage of to install the Windows Vista BCD bootloader. In the "Diagnostics Center," it is possible to reset a corrupt BCD storage and automatically create the necessary entries for the current operating system, as well as search for and replace missing/corrupt boot files. EasyBCD also offers a feature to back up and restore the BCD (boot configuration data) configuration files for recovery and testing purposes. Features Bootloader Configuration ĮasyBCD has a number of bootloader-related features that can be used to repair andįrom the "Manage Bootloader" section of EasyBCD, it is possible to switch between the bootmgr bootloader (used since Windows Vista) and the NTLDR bootloader (used by legacy versions of Windows, from Windows NT to Windows XP) in the MBR from within Windows by simply clicking a button. Other operating systems are also supported by means of chainloading their specific loader environments. Mac OS X is loaded via the Darwin bootloader. Linux and BSD are loaded either by handing off control of the boot process to GRUB or LILO or by using EasyBCD's own NeoGrub module (which is based on GRUB4DOS). MS-DOS, Windows 3.x and Windows 9x can be chainloaded via modified versions of IO.sys and the Windows 9x boot sector. Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP are supported by handing off the control of boot to either NTLDR or the EasyBCD-specific EasyLDR, which bypasses NTLDR and boots directly into the OS. Supported operating systems ĮasyBCD runs on Windows and modifies the Windows Boot Configuration Data (BCD) to add support for other operating systems. As of Jwith the release of EasyBCD 2.1, it is no longer free for use in commercial environments which require the purchase of a paid license, however it remains free for home and non-profit use without limitations. EasyBCD 2.3 introduced additional support for creating and managing entries for UEFI-based Windows entries in the boot menu. EasyBCD can be used to set up multi-boot environments for computers on which some versions of Windows, Linux, BSD and Mac OS X can be simultaneously installed EasyBCD can also be used for adding entries to bootable tools and utilities, as well as modifying and controlling the behavior of the Windows boot menu. Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows PE and Windows 10 ĮasyBCD is a program developed by NeoSmart Technologies to configure and tweak the Boot Configuration Data (BCD), a boot database first introduced in Windows Vista and used in all subsequent Windows releases. Some fonts go beyond preset regular, bold, and italic letter shapes. When using third-party services, always read the conditions and tell clients if using a particular font means they’ll have to purchase a license. Other web font licenses don’t have page view restrictions, but they restrict the domain type or only apply for a set amount of time. Some web font licenses vary in price according to the number of page views (as each visitor to your page is accessing the font individually). If you use a web font, check the foundry or service’s licensing conditions. Web fonts are usually in WOFF or WOFF2 format. Or you can use a web font - one hosted on the web, either on your site or a third-party hosting service like Google Fonts or Adobe Fonts. You can work with web safe fonts installed by default on most devices, like Arial, Georgia, Impact, and Times New Roman. You might download a beautiful display font to your device, but if your users haven’t downloaded the same font, it won’t show up for them. If you’re a web designer, downloaded font files aren’t all that useful. If you download a font and store it locally, it’s usually an OTF or a TTF file. In computing, a font is a file that holds the data required to represent the typeface on a screen or in desktop publishing. Manual typesetting also gave us the words “uppercase” and “lowercase”: Typesetters kept the uppercase and lowercase letters in separate wooden cases, usually storing the capital letters in the upper case, or the one above the case containing regular letters. The word “font” is based on the French word “ fonte,” meaning “casting,” because type founders cast each set of letters from melted metal. And they had to do a similar swap when changing from regular to bold or italic. Instead, they had to swap out one set of letters for another larger or smaller than the original. Typesetters couldn’t scale up the size of letters with the click of a button as we can today. To understand this terminology, it helps to think back to manual typesetting. Because of their historical association with books, serif typefaces communicate trustworthiness, authority, and formality.ĭifferent fonts in the Congenial typeface. Serifs aim to increase legibility, especially in print and at smaller sizes, though it’s unclear whether they make a significant difference in practice. The first typefaces designed for the printing press had serifs, or small decorative lines or strokes, added to the ends of characters. With a decorative purpose in mind, she also created alternate glyphs with extra curls for characters that fall at the start and end of the segment. To mimic handwriting, Emily created letters with different widths that float around the baseline. In contrast, the Sophia typeface, designed by Emily Spadoni, is meant for headings rather than body text, so legibility wasn’t a top priority. Now, Courier is the industry standard for screenplays: One page of a script in 12-point, 10-pitch Courier equates to about a minute of screen time, a benchmark that helps film directors create an estimated shooting schedule and budget. After typewriters fell into disuse, monospaced typefaces became popular with programmers who wanted characters to align perfectly. The Courier typeface ultimately served other goals, too. To make the typed text line up nicely, Howard “Bud” Kettler, the designer of Courier, made it monospaced - every character has the same width. The Courier typeface dates back to the mid-1950s when manual typewriters were standard in every office. When designing a typeface for headings, they focus more on conveying a particular feeling or impression than optimizing readability because headings add visual interest and capture attention. The Garamond typeface, for example, has italic, bold, and semibold versions.Įach typeface has a unifying concept or design goal - designers who create a typeface for body text aim to maximize legibility. It’s an umbrella term that includes all the different typeface varieties. What is a typeface?Ī typeface is a collection of characters that share distinctive design features, such as specific patterns in their shape, width, spacing, height, angles, or serifs. Web designers straddle the worlds of graphic design and computing, so understanding how professionals from both worlds understand the difference between a typeface and a font opens the door to more effective website design and development. To untangle the meanings of “font” and “typeface,” we must closely examine how professionals in relevant fields use them. Arial, Helvetica, Courier New: Are they fonts or typefaces? If you ask a typographer and a developer this question, they’ll most likely give you different answers. Generating an activity model is creating an activity diagram for a process. Content: Activity ModelĪctivity model is a behavioral model that details the use case model and the sequence model. In this section, we will be discussing the activity model in brief along with its elements and examples. But, unlike a sequence diagram, the activity diagram concentrates on the operations that have to be performed by the objects not on the objects. So it is not iterative.įor UML specifically though the precise meaning is included in qwerty_so's answer so I will not repeat it here. The activity diagram is similar to the sequence diagram as we have seen in our previous content. All the code does is waiting for a buffer to fill. You can clearly say it is a loop and nothing is being changed. On the other hand, you can have a loop like that: loop From this perspective almost every loop is iterative. When applying a loop, almost always you have some sort of a resulting set impacted by it and one can argue that with every loop step that resulting set is being further changed, meaning the next loop step is applied on the result of the previous step. If you think of a code, it's somewhat different though. From the position perspective joining the elements is a repetitive process but it is not iterative, as each join is applied to a different set of elements - it does not apply to those already joined. There is a virtually endless stream of similar part sets, each set consisting of the same type of parts as previously and requiring the same kind of connection. For every next run, identical set of elements the same type and number of screws is applied. On one of the positions a particular screw/set of screws is applied to join two or more elements. Imagine an assembly line in a mass production factory. In real life a process can quite easily be considered repetitive but in itself not really iterative. Of course this is a pure word definition, not in the context of software development. The highlight with a script font is mine. We used an iterative process of refinement and modification.(of a process) that involves repeating a process or set of instructions again and again, each time applying it to the result of the previous stage Let's have a look at the dictionary definition of iterative first: Yet my believe both my level of English and IT experience are sufficient to answer this question. So rather than a for loop the keyword «iterative» for the region tells that it's behavior may not be handeled in parallel.įirst a disclaimer - I am not a native English speaker. This can be processed in either of the above ways. The for-loop itself comes from the input collection you pass to the region. stream is a bit more complicated and you might read on that page in the UML spec. You can guess that behavior defined in a parallel region can be executed in parallel. Other values for this keyword are parallel and stream. Otherwise, the order of the expansion executions is not defined. If the input collections are ordered, then the expansion executions are sequenced in the order induced by the input collection. The first expansion execution begins immediately when the ExpansionRegion starts executing, with subsequent executions starting when the previous execution is completed. If the value is iterative, the expansion executions must occur in an iterative sequence, with one completing before another can begin. The mode of an ExpansionRegion controls how its expansion executions proceed. Warmer summers threaten Antarctica’s giant ice shelves because of the lakes they createįour giant ice shelves are still in good shapeĪntarctica’s four largest ice shelves are the Ross, Ronne, Filchner, and Amery. We’ve also seen entire ice shelves collapse when warmer air temperatures create surface meltwater that can cut through hundreds of metres of ice shelf. This year, Antarctica saw the lowest sea ice extent ever recorded since measurements began in the 1970s. We also know iceberg calving increases whenever Antarctica’s protective ring of sea ice weakens. We know one cause of ice shelf retreat is the thinning of ice shelves, which is largely caused by relatively warm seawater eroding the base of these shelves. But overall, these ice shelves are shrinking. Some ice shelves such as the Wilkins Ice Shelf have already seen catastrophic disintegration, while others are retreating slowly and some are even advancing. Why are Antarctic ice shelves shrinking? There’s no single answer. We found a majority of Antarctica’s ice shelves have lost mass since the late 1990s. So while no single calving event should be taken as cause for alarm, the long term trend is concerning. In any climate, we expect to see massive flat-top icebergs periodically break off and float away. We found the Pine Island Glacier and the so-called “Doomsday” Thwaites Glacier – which could destabilise the entire West Antarctic ice sheet if it melts – are highly sensitive to calving, and are already increasing their contribution to sea level rise as their protective ice shelves crumbled. Our work shows the drop in ice shelf area has led to more ice flowing into the sea since 2007, as calving has weakened ice shelves and allowed some of the world’s largest glaciers to accelerate. We built numerical models to figure out what ice shelf thinning and loss of area mean for the ability of ice shelves to resist new ice being pushed in from upstream glaciers. Sarah Thompson, Author provided What we measured Sørsdal Glacier in East Antarctica, where meltwater lakes have been appearing. But as climate change intensifies, Antarctica will begin melting in earnest, contributing more to sea level rise. To date, much of the concern about the cryosphere – the world’s frozen parts – has focused on the fast-melting Arctic sea ice. This has led Antarctica’s glaciers to begin adding more water to the oceans, and more quickly. Ice shelves are now weaker than at any time since at least the 1990s. We found Antarctica’s ice shelves have lost twice as much mass as previous studies suggested. We tracked how much extra ice had been lost as icebergs calve away from the retreating edge of the continent. Previous estimates of ice shelf loss come from satellite measurements, which captured ice shelves gradually thinning in recent years. Overall, the net loss of ice is about 6,000 billion tonnes since 1997. In research published today in Nature, we show these ice shelves have significantly reduced in area over the last 25 years due to more and more icebergs breaking off. Unfortunately, Antarctica’s ice shelves are not what they were. If they weren’t there, the glaciers would flow faster into the sea and melt, causing sea levels to rise. These shelves extend the glaciers into the ocean until they calve into icebergs.īut they also play a crucial role in maintaining the world as we know it, by acting as a brake on how fast the glaciers can flow into the ocean. As Antarctica’s slow rivers of ice hit the sea, they float, forming ice shelves. Within the pistol is a big spring, which is compressed when you pull the slide back to cock the gun. This helps you to see where your BBs are going and whether you have hit your target.Īirsoft pistols come in several categories which are further explained below.Ī good starter airsoft pistol would be one that is spring-powered.
